Fashioned
There is no one answer to this question as there is no one history of fashioned recipes. However, we can trace the origins of many popular recipes back to ancient times. For example, the Roman cookbook Apicius includes a recipe for a dish called "Isicia Omentata," which is essentially a stuffed, roasted pig's head. This dish was likely the inspiration for the modern-day dish known as "porchetta," which is a popular Italian dish made with roasted pork.
Another popular recipe with ancient roots is the "Tarte Tatin," a French upside-down apple tart. This dish is said to have been invented by two sisters, Caroline and Stephanie Tatin, who ran a hotel in the Loire Valley in the late 19th century. One story goes that Stephanie Tatin accidentally created the dish when she forgot to put the dough on the bottom of the pan before adding the apples. Whatever the story, the dish has become a classic French recipe and is now made all over the world.
