Fondue

Fondue is a French term for "melted," and originally referred to a sauce made from meat or fish stock, egg yolks, and cream. The dish we now know as fondue was invented in the 18th century in Switzerland, when cheese was added to this mixture and melted over a low heat. The first recorded recipe for cheese fondue was published in 1882.

Fondue became popular in the United States in the 1960s, when it was promoted as a modern and sophisticated way to entertain guests. The 1970s saw the rise of chocolate fondue, which was often served as a dessert. Today, there are many different types of fondue, made with a variety of different ingredients.
