Hot toddy

A hot toddy is a mixed drink typically made of liquor and water with honey and spices. The drink is usually served in a mug or a cup and is often drank before bedtime as a nightcap.

The exact origins of the hot toddy are unclear, but it is believed to have originated in Scotland. The name "toddy" is thought to come from the Hindi word "tārā", meaning "a drink made from the fermentation of palm sap".

The hot toddy first appeared in print in the early 1800s, in a Scottish medical journal. The recipe called for whisky, water, sugar and nutmeg.

Advice

Making a hot toddy is a great way to warm up on a cold night. To make a delicious toddy, start by boiling a cup of water. Then add two teaspoons of honey, one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, and a shot of whiskey. Stir until the honey and lemon juice are fully combined. Finally, pour the mixture into a mug and enjoy. For added flavor, you can add a few cloves, a cinnamon stick, or a pinch of nutmeg. If the toddy is too strong, try adding more water or honey. Whatever you decide, remember to enjoy your hot toddy in moderation.
