Margarita

A margarita is a cocktail typically made with tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. The drink is served with a salt-rimmed glass, and is often garnished with a lime wedge.

The margarita first appeared in print in the December 1953 issue of Esquire magazine. The recipe was credited to Carlos "Danny" Herrera, who owned a restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico. Herrera claimed to have invented the margarita in 1938, and the recipe he published in Esquire was very similar to the ones he served in his restaurant.

The margarita became popular in the United States in the 1970s, and there are now many variations on the original recipe. Popular variations include the use of different types of tequila, different citrus juices, and the addition of fruit or other flavoring.
