Pumpkin seed

Pumpkin seeds have been used in recipes for centuries. The earliest known recipe for pumpkin seeds is from the Roman cookbook, Apicius. This cookbook, which dates back to the first century AD, includes a recipe for roasted pumpkin seeds.

Pumpkin seeds were also popular in medieval Europe. A 14th century cookbook from England, The Forme of Cury, includes a recipe for spiced pumpkin seeds. These seeds were often used as a garnish or a topping for other dishes.

Pumpkin seeds continued to be popular in the centuries that followed. In the 18th century, a German cookbook, Das Kochbuch der Sabina Welserin, included a recipe for pumpkin seed soup. This soup was made with beef, onions, and, of course, pumpkin seeds.
