Tater tot
Tater tots are one of America’s most beloved comfort foods. These little bites of fried potatoes are the perfect accompaniment to any meal, or even as a meal themselves. But where do tater tots come from?
It all started in the 1920s with Ore-Ida founders F. Nephi Grigg and Golden Grigg. The duo was trying to figure out what to do with the leftover bits of potatoes that were being turned into french fries. They decided to dice them up, add some seasoning, and fry them up. And thus, the tater tot was born!
The tater tot quickly gained in popularity, becoming a staple in school cafeterias and home kitchens across the country. In the 1950s, tater tots even made their way into popular culture, appearing in movies and TV shows like The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet and Leave It to Beaver.
