Whipped cream

No one knows for sure when the first whipped cream recipe was created, but it is thought to have originated in the Middle Ages. Whipped cream was originally made by whipping cream with a whisk or a fork. This process would have taken a long time and would have resulted in a very thick and stiff cream.

In the 18th century, a French chef named Antoine Carême invented a machine that could whip cream much faster and more efficiently. This machine became known as a whipped cream charger and is still used today.

Whipped cream became even more popular in the 19th century when it was introduced to the United States. It was often served with pies and other desserts.

Advice

Making whipped cream is a relatively simple process that can be done with a few items you may already have in your kitchen. To make whipped cream, you'll need to start with heavy cream and a mixer. Start with cold cream and mix it in the mixer on medium-high speed until the cream thickens and forms peaks. You can add sugar, vanilla, or other flavoring to the cream while it is being mixed. It's important not to over-whip the cream, which can cause it to become butter. Stop the mixer once the cream has formed peaks and serve it immediately or store it in the refrigerator for later.
