Dosa
A dosa is a type of pancake from the Indian subcontinent, made from a fermented batter. It is somewhat similar to a crepe in appearance. Its main ingredients are rice and black lentils. It is a popular breakfast dish in South Indian households, as well as in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, and Mauritius.
The word "dosa" is derived from the Sanskrit word "dvipa", meaning "island". According to legend, the first dosa was prepared by the sage Parasurama, the sixth avatar of Vishnu. He is said to have created Kerala, the land of his birth, by throwing his axe into the sea. As the waters receded, a strip of land emerged. On this land, Parasurama found an abandoned baby, whom he raised as his own son. He named the boy Sridhara, and taught him the art of warfare.
One day, Sridhara went to the forest to meditate. He was so deep in thought that he did not hear a wild elephant approaching. The elephant grabbed Sridhara with its trunk and was about to kill him, when Parasurama appeared and killed the elephant with his axe. Srid
